Route 9 is a straight shot east of Cerulean City. It will lead into Rock Tunnel on Route 10. The first trainer can be found near the entrance from Cerulean City.

Leap over the two ledges to the south to find TM30 Teleport. This move will allow you to escape from wild Pokemon encounters in battle, and will instantly teleport you back to the last Pokemon Center you visited outside of battle. It works like an Hidden Machine, but it’s a Technical Machine. To the right is another Trainer.

Hiker

After the battle, follow the path all the way northwest to a Pokemon Trainer. You will need to navigate around some ledges.

The next Pokemon Trainer is right up the ledge to the north.

West of the last trainer is a patch of tall grass. You can try to catch some Pokemon here if you like. Also, investigate the shrub to the south near the ledge to find a hidden Ether. When you’re ready to continue on, walk to the southeast side of the route until you find the next Pokemon Trainer.

North of this Trainer is another bug Trainer. You must make your way around a few ledges to reach him.

A few steps to the west of the last bug catcher is another Trainer.

To the northwest is another hiker Pokemon Trainer up a ledge.

After the battle, walk west until you reach a wall, then jump down some ledges to the south. The final Pokemon Trainer of the route will be waiting.

Head east towards the seaside to automatically transition to Route 10.

A small patch of grass is near the seaside at the top of this route. You won’t be able to do much with the water just yet, so go south to reach the Pokemon Center. Rest your Pokemon here before continuing on. One final Trainer can be found just before the entrance to Rock Tunnel.
