Halo 3 Guide

Multiplayer

Multiplayer is said to be the real reason to own Halo 3! You can play split screen against friends on the same xbox or play online with people across the world. You have the ability to play by yourself or up to 4 players split screen online just like on local play.

Custom Games

With custom games you can play with your friends in the same room or online in games with your own rules. You can manipulate the weapons, shields, speed, and other stuff to make Slayer a Rocket match with double health! You can choose from different game modes and options so dive in and customize! Along with Forge you can create your own map and own game type making for very original and long lasting game play.

Matchmaking

Matchmaking is when you play online with people across the world. There are different game modes to play on with different rules. After each match you search for a new set of players to play against. If you like people you were playing with you can “Party Up” and create your own team of players. You have a limited amount of people you can play with depending on the game mode you want to play. Some game modes can only be played if you have certain DLC Maps. There are two sets, Ranked and Social, that put you against other people around the world. Ranked matches allow your “true skill” to rank up while social only allows your playlist skill to go up. Social are the only modes that allow you to bring a temporary profile along with a registered xbox live profile. I will list the game modes now available with a description of the game mode and the maps you have to own:

Objective Game Modes

In the game you may notice a variety of objective games mixed with slayer and team slayer. They sometimes have variations but are usually the same. I’ll do my best at explaining them.

Territories: Variations of territories include the same basic rules. A few rounds of offense and defense to keep control of flags. Stand next to flags to capture them. The more people on the flags the faster they capture.

VIP:Each team has a VIP, kill the VIP to earn points. Usually first to 10 wins.Assault: Two teams face off against each other to detonate a bomb in the others base. Usually first to three detonations wins.

Capture The Flag: Teams fight each other to steal the others flag and return them to their base. Sometimes your flag has to be at your base to capture the enemy flag.

King of the Hill: Reach the “hill” that’s surrounded by a white field. Battles others for control of the hill and the first one to reach 100 points wins. If others are in the hill area then the points may stop counting. The hill will move every few seconds.

Oddball: Hold onto a skull for 50 seconds to win the game. While holding the skull you cannot use any weapons but you can melee with the skull for a one hit kill.

Duals: Slayer using various dual held weapons. Start off with SMGs and Magnums. There are also Spikers, Plasma Rifles, Plasma Pistols, and Maulers.

Infection: Two Teams. One team is regular and the other are infected. Once an infected kills a regular player, the regular player respawns as an infected. The regular players fight to survive to the end of the round.

Juggernaut: One player is a juggernaut and the rest have to kill him. Variations include the juggernaut making other juggernauts out of his victims or if you kill the juggernaut you become him.
