Status Conditions

Attacking and healing aren’t the only factors in Pokemon battles. In addition to regular attacks, there are various status conditions Pokemon can become afflicted with. Some may last a few turns while others can last until healed with items. Below are all status conditions found in Let’s Go Pikachu and Let’s Go Eevee.

Confused

Confusion is a common status conditions where a Pokemon will physically attack themselves half (50%) of the time instead of using their original chosen attack. The damage done depends on the confused Pokemon’s attack and defense stats.

This status condition lasts one to four turns, will be cured when the Pokemon is switched out, or is cured at the end of the battle. Confusion is the only status condition that can be stacked with one other condition.

Burned

Burned is a status condition that reduces a Pokemon’s max HP by 1/16th (6.25%) each turn. In addition to the HP loss, the Pokemon’s attack stat will be cut in half (-50%).

Fire-type Pokemon cannot be afflicted with the burned condition.

This condition must be cured with an item or by healing at a Pokemon Center.

Paralysis

Paralysis is a status condition that reduces a Pokemon’s speed by half (-50%). In addition to the speed loss, the Pokemon might become “fully paralyzed,” preventing it from attacking 25% of the time.

Electric-type Pokemon cannot be afflicted with the paralysis condition.

This condition must be cured with an item or by healing at a Pokemon Center.

(Badly) Poisoned

When a Pokemon is poisoned it will lose lose 1/8th (12.5%) of its max HP each turn it’s on the field.

When a Pokemon is badly poisoned it will lose 1/16th (6.25%) of its max HP each turn it’s on the field. Additionally, another 1/16th (6.25%) of the max HP will be added every turn. Example: the first turn a badly poisoned Pokemon will lose 6.25% of their Max HP, the next turn they lose 12.5%, and the next turn They lose 18.75%, etc until the Pokemon faints.

Poison- and steel-type Pokemon can not be afflicted with either the poisoned or badly poisoned conditions.

These conditions must be cured with an item or by healing at a Pokemon Center.

Asleep

Sleep is another common status condition where a Pokemon will be unable to attack for one to three turns, unless the Pokemon knows the moves Sleep Talk or Snore. If the Pokemon is switched out of battle and brought back in, the one to three turns will reset.

This condition can be cured naturally after a few turns, cured with an item, or by healing at a Pokemon Center.

Frozen

Frozen is a rare status condition that prevents a Pokemon from attacking because it’s frozen in a solid block of ice.

Ice-type Pokemon cannot be afflicted with the frozen condition.

This status condition has a 20% chance of becoming cured naturally during a turn. Alternatively, the condition can be cured with an item, by healing at a Pokemon Center, or if the frozen Pokemon is hit by a fire-type attack.

Fainted

Fainted is a status condition that will happen to all Pokemon when their HP reaches zero. They won’t be able to battle until you visit a Pokemon Center, use a Revive or use a Max Revive.
