Check out this magnificent, stylish, and just overall bad ass figure of Roy Mustang, the Flame Alchemist.

Last year I purchased a product from one of my favorite Japanese series, FullMetal Alchemist and FullMetal Alchemist Brotherhood. Not only are these my favorite series, but this product is a model of one of my favorite character who I’ve cosplayed in the past.

This is the 1/8th scale pre-painted figure of Roy Mustang, the Flame Alchemist, by Kotobukiya as part of the ARTFX J series, and specifically for the anime, FullMetal Alchemist Brotherhood. It was originally purchased for $115 USD.

The figure is mainly one complete piece. The character is screwed onto the base, which stands at a total of 230mm, and a jacket can be placed on the figure’s shoulders. The jacket, uniform, and ripped flag on the back of the base all seem to be made of the same semi-flexible plastic material. The flames coming from the base are even more flexible than the clothes. The rest of the figure is a typical, hard plastic.

The detail and painting of this figure are nearly perfect. You can see the high quality craftsmanship that went into making this product at every turn. The only negative I found was the fact that the jacket simply rests on the figure, and isn’t balanced well enough to stay flat on his shoulders. Regardless, I believe the figure is well worth the price I paid for it, and I’d even pay more! You can purchase it off of Amazon using my link here. If you use my link I’ll get a small cut. Don’t worry, it won’t cost you anything extra. The money is used to help run the website!
