Anime(ted) Gifs #7 – The Pet Girl of Sakurasou

I’m back with another issue of Anime(ted) Gifs. It’s the first issue of September, and will most likely be the last….of September! Don’t worry!

This issue features a ton of The Pet Girl of Sakurasou Gifs. The Japanese name of the show was “Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo.” This show was recommended to me after watching Haganai: I Don’t Have Many Friends. Some people said it was similar because of the main character having a choice between two girls he likes, although many anime premises are the same. After watching all 24 episodes, I felt the show was NOTHING like Haganai.

The Pet Girl of Sakurasou follows a small group of misfits who also happen to be geniuses of several arts. The main character is more of a regular guy who happens to be living in the same art dorm with the talented crew, but only because he wants to keep several stray cats. There is a bit of romance and love plots here and there, but I felt it really climaxed half way through the series before going almost no where! In fact, I felt the entire series sort of dragged on after the mid-point, and the ending left a bad taste in my mouth.

The show wasn’t entirely bad. In fact, there were a lot of very funny moments throughout the entire series, though not the funniest I’ve seen in anime. The emotional parts were great, but they didn’t seem to go anywhere in the end. If I had to choose something really good about the anime, it’s the fact that they show how people fail in life, keep trying, and move on with their lives. It’s basically a slice of life from the view of several teens at their Junior and Senior years of High School. They are planning their lives out, getting ready for the real world, and making memories along the way.

If you still wish to see it, don’t let me stop you. The DVD and Blu Ray will become available on December 17, 2013 at Amazon.com. Just click that link to go right to the anime’s listing.

Since the nature of the show was comedy with some drama, I made a few funny gifs along with some cool, dramatic looking gifs.

As mentioned above, the main character stays in these particular dorms because of his stray cats. They can be found throughout the series.

The main character has a little sister named Yuuko. She provides a lot of comic relief.

There are a number of misunderstandings between Yuuko and the main character's friends.

Yuuko doesn't really like any other girls around her big brother.

Like most animes, there are some erotic misunderstandings and run-ins. Here is the main character with one of his dorm mates who requires a lot of help. His sister catching them after she trips on top of him in nothing but a towel.

The main female counterpart for the main character is name Mashiro. She's from England, is a world famous painter, yet is......sort of mentally retarded. There's really no better way to put it. Still, there are a lot of erotic parts between her and the MC.

So Mashiro, the girl from England with one of the most Japanese sounding names, comes to live in Japan to write Manga instead of paint, because that's what she wants to do. The person she reports to is this weird lady. She interacts with the main character from time to time in unusual ways.

I honestly can't remember this woman's name, even though she appears several times in several episodes. I had to capture this particular scene because it screamed "Deal with it."

Along with the main character and Mashiro, another girl named Misaki lives in the dorm. She is not the other girl that is attracted to the main character, but she does have a love plot of her own. She's the more crazy, hyper girl in the anime.

Misaki loves everything bear related. Here she's dressed as a bear as she attacks another dorm mate. This girl is the other love interest for the main character, though I don't believe the MC ever really looks at her that way, not even once.

This particular gif was zoomed in from the overall scene, which is why the lines are so much thicker. I just thought it was incredibly funny.

Anyways, a lot of the story is filled with drama between the main character and Mashiro. There are some near tear jerker moments, but I don't think they were enough to cross the line.

I felt this was the probably the climax of the anime, even though it was only about half way through. I thought it was a great scene, so I capped it. SPOILERS This is when Misaki sort of realizes she's in love with the main character, Sorata. Sorata already knew he had strong feelings for Misaki, and he expressed them just a few minutes prior to this realization.

I liked the last scene so much, I tried to make it into one of those infinite loops gifs, but it wasn't long enough to make it just right. This was the best I could do.

Some of the shots and colors this anime uses are fantastic. This is the first time you are introduced to Mashiro.

I hope you enjoyed this issue of Anime(ted) Gifs featuring The Pet Girl of Sakurasou Gifs. Another should be completed next month involving a scary anime. It’ll be October, so it’s time to pull out all the horror stuff! See you then.
