Horses

The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild features horse companions to assist Link along his quest. Wild horses can be found throughout Hyrule, usually roaming the flat plains. Sneak up behind and mount them by pressing A, then smash the L button to soothe the horse before your Stamina runs out. Stamina can be increased with Elixirs or by obtaining Stamina Vessels after offering 4 Spirit Orbs to a Goddess Statue.

Once a horse is under your control, try taming it by patting its head or feeding it Apples and Carrots. A horse will remain wild until you take it to a Stable and register it for 20 Rupees. Only five horses can be registered at a time. Once a horse is registered, it can be boarded and taken at all 15 Stables around Hyrule, it can be named, and its four stats will be revealed. There is Strength, Speed, and Stamina that can be ranked 1-4 stars. Temperament is another stat that shows how easy the horse is to bond with.

Malanya, The Horse God

Just like all other creature in Breath of the Wild, Link’s horses can die in battle or through natural causes. When this happens, the horse can be revived by Malanya, the Horse God. A fee of 1,000 Rupees must first be paid to access Malanya’s services.

The Horse God Malanya is located in a secret fountain in the south, similar to the Great Fairy Fountains. This fountain is located in the Faron province, at the end of the road that forks to the south of Highland Stable. You can also glide off Faron Tower to the southwest, passed Herin Lake and up the mountain further southwest.
