15 years later Silent Hill 2 is still showing us that they’re the king of horror with the Red Pyramid Thing Figma SP055. Here’s what’s included in the box.
The main monster of Silent Hill 2 is officially known as the “Red Pyramid Thing,” but is commonly known unofficially as Pyramid Head. It was supposed to be a Silent Hill 2 exclusive related to James’ torment, but later appeared in the movies and Silent Hill spin-off games for no reason other than being a crazy looking creature. It’s sort of become the poster child of Silent Hill 2.
Normally, Figmas are manufactured by Good Smile, but this time around the figure was manufactured by FREEing under a license from Konomi Digital Entertainment. The modeling was done by Monolith.
The painting and modeling of the Red Pyramid Thing are fantastic. It’s amazing how they captured the dirty and dingy feel of Silent Hill in figure form. All the cracks and crevices mixed with just the right coloring makes the figma really pop. I wanted to play Silent Hill 2 for the billionth time!
As you would expect from a figma, the Red Pyramid Thing has a number of joints for posing. There’s a joint at the neck, shoulder, elbow, wrist, check, waist, hip, knee, ankle, and in the middle of the foot. Almost all of these joints can move freely except for the hip and knees. Pyramid Head’s outfit is pretty constrictive around those joints, making it tough to move and pose.
Included with the figure are four extra pairs of hands (eight total), the great knife, a spear, and an alternate neck to connect the base of the spear to the neck. This is to replicate the pose at the end of the game.
All in all, this is a terrific action figure for any Silent Hill fan. You can post it a number of ways, and will give you a slight chill every time you look at it. It’s really an awesome figure. Click the video at the top of the page to get a closer look.
