Game Versions

The first thing that intimidates most gamers is the fact that there are multiple versions of Rainbow Six Siege. With all the BS behind DLC and season passes, some people don’t want to waste too much money on pricey special editions. The table below lists each version of Rainbow Six Siege, how much it costs in US Dollars (prices will change), what the edition comes with, and more of a description with my own opinion on the package’s worth.

Starter Edition

Price $14.99
Includes Full Game, 2 Operators, 600 R6 Credits.

The starter edition of Rainbow Six Siege gives you the main game, 600 R6 Credits, and two random operators out of Rook, Sledge, Ash, Fuze, Mute, and Smoke. The remaining operators are all unlocked with a high amount of Renown or R6 Credits. If you’re really not sure if you want to play the game, you can buy the starter edition for cheap and possibly upgrade your game later by purchasing R6 Credit packs to unlock all other operators.

Each of the original 18 Operators (GIGN, SAS, GSG9, SPETSNAZ, FBI) is unlocked with either 12,500 Renown or 300 R6 Credits. Post Launch Operators (Year One, Year Two, etc) are unlocked with 25,000 Renown or 600 R6 Credits.

Standard Edition

Price $39.99
Includes Full Game

The standard edition of Rainbow Six Siege is the version to start with if you know you want to actually play the game and spend a decent amount of time with it. You can always buy Operators with R6 Credits if you don’t have a lot of free time, or you can unlock them the old fashioned way by playing different game modes and earning Renown.

Each one of the 20 original Operators (GIGN, SAS, GSG9, SPETSNAZ, FBI) is unlocked with 500-2000 Renown. Post Launch Operators (Year One, Year Two, etc) are unlocked with 25,000 Renown or 600 R6 Credits.

Advanced Edition

Price $59.99
Includes Full Game, 10 Outbreak Collection Packs, 600 R6 Credits

The Advanced Edition of Rainbow Six Siege is pretty unnecessary unless you really enjoy R6S and want some extra junk to add to your collection.

Gold Edition

Price $89.99
Includes Full Game, Latest Season Pass, 10 Outbreak Collection Packs, 600 R6 Credits

The Gold Edition of Rainbow Six Siege is the standard edition with the new Year Three Pass, and 600 R6 credits to buy whatever you like. The Year Three pass gives you a few VIP Perks until January 31, 2019: access to five daily challenges instead of three, a 10% discount in in-game shop items, and 5% Renown boost to unlock in-game content faster.

Each of the 20 original Operators (GIGN, SAS, GSG9, SPETSNAZ, FBI) is unlocked with 450-1800 Renown. Post Launch Operators (Year One and Year Two) are unlocked with 22,500 Renown or 540 R6 Credits, but Year Three Operators are unlocked instantly as they become available.

Complete Edition

Price $129.99
Includes Full Game, Latest Season Pass, 10 Outbreak Collection Packs, 600 R6 Credits, 16 Post-Launch Operators

The Complete Edition of Rainbow Six Siege is exactly what it sounds like. You get the full game, the Year Three pass, 600 R6 Credits, and instantly unlock 16 Operators: Buck, Frost, Blackbeard, Valkyrie, Capitao, Caveira, Echo, Hibana, Jackal, Ying, Zofia, Dokkaebi, Mira, Lesion, Ela, and Vigil. The Year Three pass gives you a few VIP Perks until January 31, 2019: access to five daily challenges instead of three, a 10% discount in in-game shop items, and 5% Renown boost to unlock in-game content faster.

Each one of the 20 original Operators (GIGN, SAS, GSG9, SPETSNAZ, FBI) is unlocked with 450-1800 Renown. Post Launch Operators (Year One, Year Two, Year Three) are unlocked instantly or as they become available.

Years and Seasons

Since Rainbow Six Siege uses both Seasons and Years, it’s confusing when others call it a season pass and Ubisoft calls it the Year X Pass. There are four seasons per year, and 2018 marks the beginning of year three. Each season is basically a DLC pack or title update. It will include a new map, new operators, and new features.

The latest season pass is simply called the Year Three Pass. This will give you access to 8 new Operators one week before they become available to everyone else, and the additional VIP perks will last until January 31, 2019.
