At the end of the battle Team Rocket will disband and the Radio Director will come and talk to you. Take the elevator back down and when you reach the place where the shutters were talk to a girl to receive TM11 Sunny Day. Next head up the stairs to the next floor and talk to Mary. Now you can head to Ice Path

Ice Path

The Ice Pathcan be tricky at times. Just like the Mahogany GYM there is ice here and there that you slide on. I’ll try my best to navigate you but you can also use this map from psypokes.com!

Obtainable Pokemon
Zubat
Golbat
Swinum
Jynx
Delibird (Soul Silver)

The first part isn’t hard. Just navigate until you reach to the second icey patch. To get across go Up, Left, Up, Left, Down, Left, Up, Right. The next ice path will get you to an item. Just go right, up, left, down, left, up, right. It’s HM07 Waterfall! You’ll definitely need that. Head up the stairs and to the right. Don’t worry you won’t fight that man. Continue to the right and taket he ladder down.

At the bottom you’ll need your pokemon that has strength to move the boulders into the holes. If you fall down the holes you’ll get to the next level. But you need the boulders to stop you from sliding on the ice! It shouldn’t be too difficult to figure out. Four Boulders close to Four Holes. You’ll have to move the Boulders around stationary rocks like a puzzle.

On the next floor there is a Max Potion to the left. You can get there pretty easily. The hard part is getting to the middle of the room which you need to get to to take the ladder down! Head up the ladder and jump down the first hole to the left from the ladder. Then go down, left, up, right. You made it! Get the Full Heal and head down the ladder.

At the bottom use rock smash if you have it. You’ll find a NeverMeltIce. Either that or go all the way around to get it. So next head to the right and take the ladder up.

The next level is simple. You can slide to the ladder but you’ll miss out on TM72 Avalanche. To get it you’ll need to go to the far right part of land. You’ll have to take the steps and go even more right to reach it or just slide all the way there. When you’re there go left until you hit the little mound and take one more step to the right. Slide down and you’ll hit a rock. Slide right to get the TM! Now slide left to reach the ladder!

The next level is small. There is a moveable boulder, and ice patch, and an item. Move the boulder down one square. Make it back around to the ice patch. Before stepping on make sure you went all the way around the dirt path until you hit the rocks next to the item. Slide up, left, and down. Grab the iron and head to the next ladder.

We’re at the end. Head up the mound and grab the Protein. Next step on the ice patch. First you’ll want to be on the right of the two squares. Go down, left, down, and to the right to talk to the kimono girl. Push her forward and head down to exit the cave. If you want the item (PP Up) head back to the top. You’ll want to be on the right side of the two squares to slide on the patch. Then you’ll go down, left, down, left, up, right, down, right, down and grab the PP UP. Then follow the same formula to exit!

Blackthorn City

A Quiet Mountain Retreat

The first house you’ll come across will let you trade your female dragonair for a trainer’s dodrio. Doesn’t seem to fair but if you want to you can do it. The lady next to you will give you a ribbon I believe if you finish filling up all the EVs on your pokemon.

Now you can heal your pokemon or buy some items:

Poke Mart
Air Mail – P50
Net Ball – P1000
Dusk Ball – P1000

Poke Ball – P200
Great Ball – P600
Ultra Ball – P1200

Hyper Potion – P1200
Max Potion – P2500
Revive – P1500

Parlyz Heal – P200
Burn Heal – P250
Ice Heal – P250
Awakening – P250
Full Heal – P600
Escape Rope – P550
Repel – P350
Super Repel – P500
Max Repel – P700

The house to the left of the poke mart is the move peoples house. There’s a move deleter that can delete any move including HMs, two move tutors that can teach certain pokemon ultimate moves, and the move relearner or whatever they call him. The move relearner will teach your pokemon any move he already learned and special moves for when they evolve if you give him a heart scale in return. That’s all there really is to do in Blackthorn. Now head to the GYM!

Blackthorn GYM

The Blackthorn GYM Specializes in Dragon type pokemon. Dragon types are weake against dragon and ice type moves. Dragon type moves are strong against only dragons and weak against steel, everything else is neutral. Fire, Water, Electric, and Grass do half damage to Dragon types.

The GYM itself is pretty strange. You have to keep your pokemon in their balls. For a layout of the GYM Map click here credit to Psypokes.com again. You’ll see little contraptions around the GYM with red arrows and blue circles. You click the red arrows for the platform to take you that direction and you click the blue circles for the platforms to spin 90 degrees. You’ll also see greenish yellow circles here and there that teleport you to the start so you can heal your pokemon at the pokemon center if you like. Go forward on the first platform and move it to the left, then spin it 180 degrees to face the other side and move it back to the right to bridge across. It will only spin if it’s moved to the side. Move forward to face a few trainers:

Type:Water
Ability:Poison Point or Sniper
Attacks:
-Brine (Water/Special)
-Bubblebeam (Water/Special)

After that trainer you can teleport back or face the last trainer before the GYM Leader:

Ace Trainer Mike – P2280

Dragonair (Male) Lv38
Type:Dragon
Ability:Shed Skin
Attacks:
-Agility (Psychic/Other)
-Slam (Normal/Physical)
-Aqua Tail (Water/Physical)
-Dragon Rage (Dragon/Special/Other) Always takes off 40 HP
EXP:1171

After all that you better get ready. Heal up your pokemon and go back to the end. To reach the last platform do the following: left, 180, right, 90, up, up, up, 90, right, 90, up, up and you’re there!

GYM Leader Claire – P4920

Claire is really tough. Well she’s the last GYM Leader in Johto so she must be! If she needs to she’ll use a hyper potion and a full restore on her pokemon when they get weak. All her pokemon are female so if you have a male with the attract ability it could be useful. Try to knock out gyrados real quick with an electric attack. It will deal 4x damage to the water flying type and if it’s an electric pokemon using it you’ll also get a STAB. But watch out because he does have the intimidate ability that lowers physical damage attacks and he is really fast. The two dragonairs can be tough. They have the shed skin ability so inflicting them with status effects like poison, paralyze, burn, and sleep won’t last long. All four pokemon have dragon pulse which is a really strong special dragon type move. One dragonair has a powerful fire attack and the other has a decent water attack. The last pokemon, Kingdra, may be the toughest. She’s only weak to dragon type moves and has VERY strong attacks that may knock you out in one shot. If she chooses too she’ll lower your accuracy with smokescreen. Her sniper ability will increase critical hit power by 3x instead of 2x. So if you get hit critically then you’re probably done.

Type:Water/Flying
Ability:Intimidate

-Dragon Pulse (Dragon/Special)
-Dragon Rage (Dragon/Special/Other)
-Twister (Dragon/Special)

After that match you won’t get anything but money! Teleport to the start and heal your pokemon. You’ll have to take a dragon master challenge. You’ll need to surf behind the GYM to a little cave

Dragon’s Den

Obtainable Pokemon
Magikarp (Surfing/Fishing)

Instead you’ll have to surf left. There are two land masses which you don’t have to go on but you can to battle some trainers. The one on top is:

next to both of them is a Max Elixir. Now you’ll need a pokemon that knows Whirlpool to get rid of the whirlpool and progress. Reach the dragon shrine and enter. Answer a few obvious questions. If you need help answer Friend, strategy, anyone, love, both. After that you’ll talk to Clair and receive the Rising Badge which will allow you to use waterfall outside of battle and all pokemon will obey you at all levels. Leave the dragon shrine and swim to the right and up to find a dragon fang up a little hill. Exit the cave now by surfing back. Before you exit Clair will stop you and give you TM59 Dragon Pulse. If you exit the cave and return to the shrine to talk to the elder he will give you a lv15 Dratini that knows Extreme Speed.

After all that you can now fly to New Bark Town and head East towards the Pokemon League or you can take the long way and battle some trainers and pokemon down on Route 45/46 and inside Dark Cave. Prof. Elm may call you first and say swing by his lab.
