Japanese Language Studies

I’ve been studying the Japanese language recently, so I decided to blog about it. Why not?

I love the sound of the Japanese language, but like most languages, it has many faults in its structure. I actually blogged about that subject awhile back. You can see that article here.

Anyways, I’ve been doing my studying on the program Rosetta Stone. I’m sure many of you have heard about it. Before trying it, I heard many good things about it. When I saw the price I thought, “This better be good!” I still have a long way to go, but I seem to be picking up the language rather quickly. Maybe it’s because  I’ve been watching anime for years and picked up some words and phrases, or maybe the program is just that awesome.

It’s definitely tough learning a language when you also have to learn an entirely new alphabet, especially when they use three sets of alphabets for different reasons. I included the two basic alphabets below — hiragana and katakana. I think I’ve memorized about 90% of Hiragana by now, but there’s still so much to learn! Someone I know told me how to type in Hiragana and Katakana online too. It’s pretty cool: なに

I suppose that’s all I have to say about that. Anyone else around here learning Japanese? Anyone else try out Rosetta Stone? I should probably study some more, but like usual, there’s not enough time in the day to do everything I want to do!
